Hello. I'm Elena, founder of Digby & George. The brand honours the animals who share our homes and live on in our hearts long after they are gone. Rooted in the landscape and slow rhythms of Norfolk Norfolk, my studio is nestled in the back garden surrounded by big skies, round church towers and fields of golden rapeseed.
My journey to surface pattern design has taken 55 years - a slow process of collecting my thoughts and dreams, never knowing what I want to be when I grow up!
I do not consider myself an artist so much as a curator of delights. I am influenced by flora and fauna found in the back garden, the woodlands, and by the wayside. I look for hidden gems in the margins of life.
Inspiration weaves it's way into my thoughts on an early morning dog walk, as I watch the fog lift on a warm summer morning. Spider webs glisten with morning dew, and rain pitter-patters on the lily pads in the garden pond. I inhale the heady aromas from the first blush of tomatoes in the greenhouse. I hunt for mini beasts in the countryside with my granddaughter. I love seeing life through her eyes. Together we relish the awe and wonder of found things. I savour the prospect of her life ahead - full of new delights, fantastical adventures, and time spent with those she holds dear.
